This was the slope we had to work with off the road. Where the car is parked is now the top of our new driveway. This was a well used and much loved neighborhood trail cutting across the top of our lot. In the pictures above you can see what we did to it in the process of putting in the driveway. I think we've been forgiven though, as many of our future neighbors have stopped to chat with us about our building plans and to welcome us "kids" to the neighborhood.
To the left is the partially cleared house site, and the still untouched trail is on the right, looking back up toward Pika Road.
The house site. Max spent plenty of weekends and evenings cutting and burning, burning and cutting...this is looking north (and down hill) toward the Goldstream Valley. You can see the sun-lit ridge on the other side of the valley through the tops of the birch trees.
