A visit with Bushka and Grandaddy

We had some very special visitors later in May. Kieran's Bushka and Grandaddy made the long trip from the east coast to meet little Kieran and to see the new house. Kieran tried out Grandaddy's lap while Grandaddy tried out the sunny deck. I think it was an arrangement they were both happy with.

Three generations of Kaufman men. They make a handsome group.

We didn't just sit around the deck. The elder Kaufman men donned their down jackets and boarded the riverboat for an afternoon of sightseeing.

Nice orange paddle wheel. My favorite color.

I'm not sure I've ever seen Max looking so patriotic. Maybe all the democratic presidential campaigning has gotten him in the spirit.

We can't have such important visitors without putting on a king crab feast! Rachel was sure to show up for crab night :)

After watching us eat our crab dinner Kieran decided he'd had a one-item diet long enough. The next night he got to try his first food...mashed sweet potatoes. Yummy sweet potatoes while sitting in Bushka's lap. What could be better?

A few days later we introduced banana to the lineup. First taste...

Thinking about it...

Approval!!

Thanks for coming all this way Bushka and Grandaddy! We're looking forward to seeing you soon at the beach!

Shiway and Dave meet Kieran

May was a month of fun visits with friends and family. Now with Max away on his big field campaign we're a bit backed up with entries but we'll try to get caught up. Our first visitors were our old Fairbanks buddies Shiway and Dave and our current Fairbanks buddy Julie. It was Shi and Dave and Kieran's first time meeting. The look of shock on Kieran's face is more a reaction to Dave's camera than to Shiway...Kieran loved hanging out with his "Chinese Auntie"!

Julie was one of the first people to meet little K back in January when we ran into her during our first trip to the Coffee House. Kieran was in his second week and Julie was desperate for caffeine and still reeling from a return from Antarctica hours before. I think they both got more out of this meeting.

The men had a nice stroll around the grounds while the ladies caught up on the latest. It was great to see Shi and Dave. Our hopes are that they'll come to their senses and realize that Fairbanks is where they really want to be...we'd love to have them back in town someday. Jules, you're another story ;) We love ya...and we'll miss you...but it's time for bigger things!

Now a little hanging around the house...Kieran has been such a little sweetheart over the last month. He loves to giggle and play and getting tossed and swung around is super fun. Here he is just being cuddly and cute with his poppa.

Are you ready for my next trick?

Look, no hands!

So much fun!

What a little ham.

The jumperoo has been more popular than ever. Kieran really gives it a workout. Here he shows off his shiny new teeth.
